Glider  familiarization flights

Gliding flight, in which the glider is towed to a height of about 400 – 500 meters, then glides, constantly decreasing its altitude, and at an altitude of 300 – 200 meters begins the approach to landing procedure.

Gliding time: 5-10mins
Cost: 250 PLN

Thermal flight

A flight in which the glider is towed to a height of about 400-500 meters, then further gains altitude in the thermal (from even to the base of the clouds, depending on thermal conditions), and then there is a longer gliding with the possibility of the first, independent attempts to maneuver the glider.

Thermal flight time: 20-30mins
Cost: 450 PLN

Familiarization flight for 1 person on a two-seater Cessna 150 or SkyLane.

Flying time: 10mins
Cost: 300 PLN

INFORMATION FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN A FAMILIARIZATION FLIGHT IN THE LESZNO AEROCLUB IN THE 2023 AVIATION SEASON

1. 1. Aeroclub Leszczyński is an association of physical culture operating on the basis of the Statute in accordance with the Act on Associations and on the basis of aviation law and regulations.
   2. In order to promote training for glider and aircraft pilot licenses, as part of its statutory activities, the Leszczyński Aero Club offers interested persons familiarization flights with a flight instructor or with a pilot with extensive experience. These flights can take place in a two-seater school glider or a two-seater multirole aircraft.
   3. An introductory glider flight may be a flight of:
      a) gliding, in a time of not less than 10 minutes, during which the glider, after towing to an altitude of about 400 / 500 m, constantly reduces the height and at a height of 300 m enters the landing approach procedure.
      b) thermal, in a time of not less than 20 minutes and not more than 30 minutes, during which the glider, after being towed to an altitude of about 400 … 500 m, gains altitude in the thermal to a height depending on thermal conditions (e.g. up to 2000 m), followed by a longer gliding and demonstration of the art of maneuvering the glider.Thermal flight is possible only during the thermal flight season, i.e. from the beginning of April to the end of September.

      Thermal conditions, in the middle of the season (from May to August), occur most often in the afternoon and early afternoon (from – 11:00 to 17:00).

      The weather conditions necessary to perform thermal flights are:
      – cloudless or moderately cloudy sky,
      – weak to moderate wind (up to 8 m/s),
      – low risk of violent or dangerous atmospheric phenomena (heavy rainfall, storm, haze, increasing wind with strong gusts).

      At the express request of the person concerned, the thermal flight may take place in weather conditions other than those specified as necessary to perform thermal flights, but then the Aero Club does not guarantee that the flight will last not less than 20 minutes.

      The date of the thermal familiarization flight, the person directly concerned, sets by phone with a representative of the Aero Club (+48 505 492 178). In addition, on the day of the planned flight, another telephone contact is required (+48 505 492 178) to determine with certainty the chances of weather conditions necessary to perform thermal flights (usually it is a date covering from one hour to several hours before the planned flight).

      The person taking the familiarization flight (or a third party) pays the costs of the familiarization flight:
      – gliding flight 250 PLN,
      – thermal flight 450 PLN

      At the request of the person taking the flight, it is possible to extend the duration of the introductory thermal flight. In this case, the cost to be covered is PLN 15 for each additional minute of flight.

   4. An introductory flight by plane can be made by one person in a two-seater aircraft.
      – Each person taking a familiarization flight by plane (or a third party) covers the cost of this flight in the amount of PLN 300 for a flight lasting 10 minutes.
      – At the request of the person taking the flight, it is possible to extend the duration of the familiarization flight by plane, covering an additional cost of PLN 30 for each additional minute of the flight.
   5. The cost of the introductory flight can be covered in cash, by payment card or by bank transfer to the Aero Club account in the Santander bank: 65 1090 1245 0000 0000 2400 9789. In the transfer order, as the title of payment, enter the type of flight (glider thermal flight / glider gliding flight / aircraft “…” minutes – according to the amount of the transfer) and the name and surname of the person who will take the familiarization flight.
   6. For persons acquiring the right to a familiarization flight through third parties (for example, in the form of a gift, invitation), the Aero Club prepares an Invitation to a Familiarization Flight (alternatively) in the form of:
      – print an invitation to personal collection at the Aero Club office
      – PDF file sent by e-mail
   7. The Aero Club Office, after receiving confirmation of the transfer by e-mail to the biuro@aeroklub.leszno.pl address, prepares an invitation file. This file is then sent back to the e-mail address from which the transfer confirmation message arrived.
   8. It is recommended to use the invitation as soon as possible, but not longer than one year. After one year from the date of covering the costs of the preview flight, the Aero Club will be able to charge an additional fee calculated on the basis of the aviation fuel price increase index.
   9. A person taking a familiarization flight should enjoy good health and be in a physical condition allowing him to take a seat in the cabin of a glider or plane. The weight and height restrictions specified in the instructions for use of the glider or aircraft will apply.
   10. A person intending to take a familiarization flight will be trained in: – the rules of movement within the airport apron and at the take-off stand
       – rules of safe behavior during the flight
       – the effects of flight and manoeuvres on the human body
       – rules of flight and control of the glider / aircraft
       – a person intending to take a familiarization flight confirms the fact of completion of training by signing the appropriate form in person.
